Senior moving and downsizing
There may be no harder move on a family than clearing the home where parents spent forty years, and almost none of that difficulty is about the boxes. So we ease off, working each piece at a pace nobody has to keep up with, handling that Montford or West Asheville home as carefully as our own family’s.
One flat rate, no clock
Nothing races a clock and no outsider sets the timetable. The sorting, the boxing, the move, and any storage all resolve to a single written number, so nobody feels nudged toward the door.
Into a smaller home
More often than not the destination is smaller: an Asheville condo, a retirement community toward Arden, an in-law suite near the grown kids, or a drive down to family in Charlotte or Atlanta. Wherever it lands, a single crew carries the job beginning to end, one familiar face from the opening box to the last.
Where we step in
- Sort, a room at a time Working through what travels, what gets donated, and what has reached the end of the line, never rushed.
- Hand-pack the keepsakes The china, the framed photographs, the memory-laden things packed by hand with genuine care.
- Clear what stays behind We arrange the donation pickups and clear out whatever is not making the trip.
- Store the surplus When the new home holds less than the old, the overflow goes into our climate-controlled storage.
- Set up the new place Before we head out, we make the beds and square away the rooms.
Coordinating with relatives
Often the adult children are scattered across different states, running the whole thing remotely. Hannah keeps every one of them current on the timetable and the written figure, and she looks after the storage and any downtown building COI the new address calls for.
