Local Movers in Asheville & WNC

On our own trucks with W-2 movers out of Asheville, we carry your home across Buncombe County for a single written price, the steep-driveway shuttle mapped and the building COI filed well before the day.

See the number first, sign second

Jot down below what needs moving, and our Asheville office will typically have a single written flat figure back to you before the day is out.

Or call (888) 278-9005

The moment this reaches our Coxe Ave office in Asheville, your written rate starts its trip back to you and lands before the work day is out. Pricing the job costs you nothing, and sending the form in leaves you free of any commitment — take all the time you want with the figure, because the decision is yours alone to make. What you type goes to a single estimator putting your quote together, and it never leaves that desk.

Local moving across Asheville

Cole Brantley started Open Box Moving Solutions in 2012 with a secondhand box truck, and two rules from that first season still run the company.

Two promises, since day one

The movers at your door are on our W-2 payroll and ride Open Box trucks we bought outright, never strangers off a rental listing. And any job inside our service area is one flat number, recorded the day you reserve and never recalculated at the curb.

Neighborhoods we run

The trucks fan out every week, and a sofa around a Montford newel post is second nature to Dale Pruett by now.

  • Steep-staired streetsMontford and Grove Park
  • LoftsRiver Arts District
  • CottagesAbove Kenilworth and Haw Creek
  • Ridge cabinsPast Leicester and Fairview

Unsure a 26-footer can climb your pitched Beaverdam driveway without grinding a retaining wall? Put it to Dale and you get a straight answer.

What the flat number folds in

Everything rides on that one figure, and stairs never appear as a separate line at the bottom of your bill.

Home size Typical flat band
Studio / 1BR $450 to $550
One-bedroom $500 to $750
Two-bedroom $1,050 to $1,400
Three-bedroom $1,900 to $2,500

Inside it sit the truck, fuel, blankets, dollies, straps, and a crew that wraps each piece. Anything that comes apart, from bed frames to hutches, is broken down where you leave and rebuilt where you land, and shrink-wrap is folded in rather than charged.

For loads cheaper by the hour, two movers run $130/hr on a three-hour minimum, and Hannah Whitford lays the flat and hourly options side by side so you keep whichever lands lower.

How move day runs

  1. Walk-through A phone or video tour so the written number tracks exactly what is leaving the house.
  2. Access mapped Becca Hollis files the COI, books the elevator, and confirms a loading-zone spot in writing about a week ahead.
  3. Pad and load Every piece is wrapped and padded long before it heads toward the doorway.
  4. Shuttle the steep ones A smaller truck ferries the load down any pitched mountain driveway no full-size rig should attempt.
  5. Set and reassemble Rooms are put back together, and the closing total reads the same as the figure you signed.

Asheville since 2012

Cole still rides the bigger jobs himself, so the voice on the line drives these mountain roads through every season, not a dispatcher a few states away. That is why Buncombe County keeps phoning back.

Part of the job

What the team takes care of

  • One written price, locked the day you reserve, with stairs, fuel, and wrapping already counted inside it

  • Movers we employ W-2, on gear Open Box owns, with nothing passed to borrowed or subcontracted hands

  • Blankets, dollies, straps, and shrink-wrap built into the number rather than itemized at the curb

  • Bed frames and dressers taken apart where you leave and rebuilt where you arrive

  • Becca filing the COI and reserving the elevator window in writing about a week ahead

  • Service reaching from Asheville through Montford, West Asheville, Black Mountain, and on to Weaverville

  • A smaller shuttle truck scheduled in for steep mountain driveways no full-size rig should climb

  • Flat and hourly figures drawn up together, with you keeping whichever runs lower

Hourly-Rate Crews

Starting from$120/hr

That Asheville hourly rate already covers a two-mover team held to a three-hour minimum, the truck pulled right up to your door, and every piece of kit that rides along with it — quilted pads, straps, ramps, dollies, and the floor runners we lay down over the heart-pine and tile you tend to meet in a craftsman bungalow. None of it shows up later as a surprise line on the invoice, because all of it is folded into the number we quote you.

Three guys (all brothers) helped me and my husband move into our new home with several large pieces and tight spaces. They did an excellent job and cared about helping us. They did everything so well and I am happy to have had them move my things into my new home!

Our movers, one free quote

Talk us through the job. A Asheville move might mean hauling boxes down a flight of craftsman bungalow stairs, or working a piano through a tight mountain cabin doorway — whatever the day calls for, our W-2 crew carries it from the first box to the last, and the written rate holds firm the entire way.

The things people ask us most

Worth knowing before you book

How do you arrive at my local rate?
Three things drive it: the home itself, the staircase, and the distance to the new address, plus any driveway that calls for a shuttle. We commit the flat amount to paper before the day and it does not budge from there. Should a lighter load come out cheaper by the hour, which begins at $130/hr for two movers, we put that figure next to the flat one and you keep the lower. Once the crew is mid-load, neither number moves an inch.
Who takes care of the COI and the elevator?
Becca Hollis carries all of that. Roughly a week ahead she lodges the Certificate of Insurance with building management, reserves the elevator window, and gets a loading-zone spot confirmed in writing, so the crew is never stuck at the lobby waiting to be let through. Should a downtown tower or River Arts building hand over its own form, that lands on her desk too. One of Asheville's classic delays is handled before we ever pull up.
Will a truck make it up my ridge driveway?
Frequently the full-size truck won't, and we account for that in the plan. For the steep approaches on Town Mountain and Beaverdam, a smaller shuttle vehicle ferries the load down to wherever the big truck can wait. Dale Pruett scouts the driveway during the walk-through, which is why move day brings no surprises and no truck wedged halfway up a grade.
How early do I reserve a date?
The sooner the better, and that goes double across summer and at the turn of the month. Hand Hannah your date and she pins down the slot and the written number within the week, then keeps both fixed so nothing drifts on you. For winter dates we leave a little slack in case an ice storm shuts the grades.
